"AC Smith was founded in 1928 by Arnold Charles Smith and was originally located in Commercial Road, Durban. Back in those days transportation was primarily by horse or horse and cart and customers would leave their horses at AC Smith whilst they shopped in Durban. While Clients shopped the Farriers would tend to their horses. Clients would then come back and shop at AC Smith for all their saddlery requirements.
The company was later taken over by Arnold Smith's children, John & Jackie Smith, and was expanded into a leading wholesaler and manufacturer of equestrian goods. The business is still in family hands and is currently owned and run by the late Jackie Smith's son Malcolm Mercer and John Laurie who bought John Smith's share when he decided to retire and immigrate to the U.K. Today the company still operates from Durban and offers its retails customers the convenience of shopping at either one of their two branches in Durban or Hillcrest. AC Smith has a leading wholesale division and a factory which enables the company to supply a comprehensive range of products.
AC Smith's products have been presented in an attempt to ensure that your equestrian sport has the best that today's market has to offer.
